This year you have decided to have a completely different type of vacation. You have put this vacation on the top list of your wishes, but you are not sure about the choice only for one reason - you are taking your children with you. We are strongly recommending not to give up the first idea you had and to give your children the opportunity to enjoy sailing with you. Why is that so?
What can your children learn during sailing holiday in Croatia
This year you have decided to have a completely different type of vacation. You have put this vacation on the top list of your wishes, but you are not sure about the choice only for one reason- you are taking your children with you. We are strongly recommending not to give up the first idea you had and to give your children the opportunity to enjoy sailing with you.
Why is that so? Besides the fact that sailing is going to represent a completely new challenge for your children and introduce them to a whole range of new experiences, it will also give them the possibility to learn a lot, not only about sailing, but also about themselves.
Safety first
Sailing with children has never been and it will not be dangerous if you introduce them with all sorts of situations they are about to experience on time.
In case they have never been on a boat, we advice you to first show them a photo or a video and therefore to describe your little adventure that is about to begin. With children being curious, what is in their nature, before heading for the open sea you should also introduce them to all boat premises and the parts of the boat. Show them where to find handles and handholds, explain them what are the safety nets and waistcoasts made for, and definitely explain them why they must not be on the deck or bow of a ship without your supervision. This way you will stop them to go secretly and unsupervised into their exploring adventure that could lead to an eventual unwishing situation.
When it comes to sailing, for the first children's adventure it would be good to pick shorter routes. You should definitely have in mind that children have much more energy then you do, so they need to run and 'let off steam' from time to time. In case you notice an adequate beach to get some rest from sailing, you should definitely pull over and make your children happy. We are sure that they will hardly wait to build towers in the sand and they will definitely be determined to catch some crabs.
Make your trip fun and englihtening
If you want your children to fall in love with sailing, you should offer them more than a pure sailing. Set some time apart and teach the children the basics of sailing- about types of winds, types od sails, instruments that each ship is equipped with, and also introduce them to the route you are sailing ahead and the geographical fun facts. The Adriatic Sea has been formed of some of the beautiful archipelagoes enriched with flora and fauna, large number of small islands of which each of them tell the special story for itself- legends, real historic stories or just natural beauties.
Except the interesting stories that you will, believe us, hardly wait to retell to your friends this is the right opportunity to teach your children the responsibility, living by their's wits, chores and keeping everything in order. In that way they will, for instance, learn not to leave the glass on the table beacause the liquid could spill or the glass could fall on the floor and hurt somebody. These can also be worthy lessions they will start to use consciously at home.
What to do when children get bored?
Of course, it is completely reasonable to think that children might get bored while sailing, especially during the bad weather when they would be forced to stay in the cabin of the boat.
Board games will save you and we believe that you will enjoy the games such as '' Do not get angry'' or ''Monopoly'' and card games that you surely have already forgotten how fun they can be. You should also bring their favourite toys and some cartoons that will make them fall aslep easier at night.
We wish you happy and unforgettable sailing adventure with your children, and if you'll have additional questions or you simply need more info or advice for your children's bigger safety, feel free to ask us, we are here at your disposal.
